    A GURU-COOL AMIDST THE HIMALAYAS
Ages ago, when the man still respected nature, education was imparted through a very unique system in ancient India. It was the system of Gurukul. Students would travel to far off, yet supremely serene environs in the lap of Mother Nature, to get education from men of boundless wisdom. Staying in the guru's abode, called the gurukul, these young minds would unfold the mysteries of the universe.

The reasons why these gurukuls were located at such distant places were that firstly, staying away from home instilled immense self-belief and self-reliance in the young minds. Students learnt to do things on their own rather than looking up to others for help. Secondly, education can be limited to books, but not knowledge. Mother Nature herself is a great teacher. There is a lot that Nature teaches man. The students learnt to respect the environment and developed a sense of harmony with nature. Thirdly, in a far off gurukul, all students, irrespective of their backgrounds, became equal.
Inspired from this vision of our great men of yore, Adventure Activity Promoter (AAP) presents Himalayan Adventure Trek (HAT)a modern day cool 'guru-cool' full of fun and adventure.
A 10-day trekking programme to Roopkund that gives an amazing opportunity to learn and experience what Internet and even books can't teach.

    THE ROOPKUND TRAIL:
A CLASSROOM STRETCHING OVER XXX KM

HAT 2007 takes you to one of the most enrapturing journeys to the Himalayas. Starting from Delhi, the trek will culminate near the picturesque, yet enigmatic lake of Roopkund. The entire journey from the base camp at Lohajang, is equally mesmerising. Passing from a beautiful Himalayan village, Kulling, participants will learn the nuances of the lifestyle and culture of the region.

They will also absorb the purity of this heavenly experience and acquaint themselves to the Himalayan topography, most of which existed so far only in the Geography books for them. The next two camps at Tolpani and Bedni Kund will make the participants feel on top of the world, literally. The final camp at Dhar will introduce them to such scenic beauty, which often makes even the poets struggle for words that do justice to its charm while describing it.

    THE EXPERT & FRIENDLY GURUS
With an experience of more than one and a half decade, Adventure Activity Promoter (AAP) has built trust and reputation that are as huge and firm as the great Himalayas. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, AAP offers a diverse choice of tours: adventure, wildlife, cultural and Ayurveda.
However, HAT remains to be AAP’s most popular tour with hundreds of participants successfully completing year after year. HAT is conducted under the expert guidance of two of the most experienced professional mountaineers, Gurvinder Singh Grewal and Chanderkant Arya.
Prior to commencing his career in the year 1988, Gurvinder Singh Grewal completed his Basic Course from WHMI and Advanced Course from NIM with impressive ‘A’ grades. Within two years, Gurvinder won the Best Mountaineer Award. In the very next year, he secured a place in the Indo-Russian expedition to Nanda Devi East, scaling a height of 23,100 ft. A veteran of several tough Himalayan peaks, Gurvinder has successfully trained close to 60,000 people in rock climbing and other adventure games. peaks has scaled several peaks and has trained more than half a lakh people in trekking, rock climbing and other adventure games.
Both Gurvinder as well as Chanderkant give personal attention to each and every trekking programme.

GAMES OF THE GURU-COOL: LEARNING TEAMWORK, BUILDING CONFIDENCE
The ancient gurukuls often used mock tests in the garb of thoughtfully designed games to inculcate values and professional traits among the students. Taking cue from there, AAP has included several indigenously developed games as well as activities in HAT for building team spirit, confidence, crisis management and analytical abilities among the participants.

These activities smartly bring out the best in you. Some of the adventure games are: Flying Fox, Commando Net, Cat Crawling, Australian Trolley, Plank Crossing, Rock Climbing, Rappelling and Bridge Swinging. However, the biggest attraction of HAT remains to be one of the most challenging and adrenaline pumping games, Spidernet. In this indigenously designed exercise, the participant has to crawl on a net that is suspended more than 100 ft above a gorge. It is one thrilling experience that makes the boys feel like men.
